Located just outside Lake Geneva in Delavan and situated along two miles of Delavan Lake, Lake Lawn Resort lets you escape from the ordinary without being traveling too far. Read on to find out why Lake Lawn Resort makes for a wonderful weekend getaway with the family AND for couples. (Yes, we had a date night too!)

Safety First at Lake Lawn Resort
As far as staying safe, Lake Lawn has hand sanitizer stations everywhere, masks are required indoors, markers are placed on the floor of the hotel and spa lobby to indicate where to stay art, and staff had face masks on. Here is their COVID-19 policy.
Our Room
Plenty of lodging choices are available at Lake Lawn Resort depending on your needs. Since we were bringing their grandmother (aka “Lola” in tagalog), we needed a room that fit 3 adults and 3 kids. We stayed in the Lodges Queen Loft in the Shorewood East building. Our lodge-style room had two comfortable queen beds as well as a full bathroom on the main floor while the loft comfortably fit two twin beds and a half bathroom. Although my husband and I would have preferred our own private bedroom, we thought this configuration worked out well. The kids were happy to hang out upstairs with Lola!

Epic Sunrises
Lake Lawn Resort’s prime location overlooking Delavan Lake meant we could experience amazing sunrises. As you know, one of my favorite things to do is explore the resort bright and early so off I went enjoying a quiet stroll on the walking path along the lake. I basically had the resort all to myself! I can only imagine how beautiful this view of the lake during the warmer months. No matter the weather, I highly encourage a stroll here.

Get Your Coffee On
After my morning sunrise walk, the Isle of Capri Cafe opened up. Serving good ‘ol Starbucks coffee, this was perfect for satisfying my coffee fix. They also serve a variety of breakfast sandwiches, breakfast burritos, fruits, and parfaits. Perfect for a grab and go breakfast!
Tip: Head to the Isle of Capri for stone-fired pizza, sandwiches and of course, ice cream!
Friday Fish Fry
Fridays in Wisconsin should only mean one thing – Friday Fish Fry! At Lake Lawn Resort, we had it at Lookout Bar & Eatery. The fish fry is big enough for most appetites but if you so choose they offer a kid-sized serving, or 2 or 3 pieces. Not only did we have Spotted Cow battered cod but it came with the goodies like hush puppies (excellent!) yummy house made apple sauce, coleslaw, a roll, and your choice of potato pancakes or fries. And at the suggestion of our server, pairs well with an old-fashioned. Everything was excellent and oh-so-tasty!
Do yourself a favor and make sure to start with the cheese curds. Note to self: When cheese curds are involved, start with two orders of it. The kids devoured it and hardly left any for the adults! And make sure to end your dinner with a S’mores cookie, toasted marshmallows sandwiched between chocolate chip cookies. Delish!
Igloo Fun
No doubt dining in an igloo elevates any dining experience, so I was super excited to see that Lake Lawn offered a Lakeside Igloo Adventure. The sun was shining bright and the temps in the 40s, so we were more than comfortable without the heater on or jackets in the Igloos.
Tip: Book online; reservations are for 90 minutes and are cleaned between seatings.
Choose from items to share like the Family Batter Platter full of fried goodies like cheese curds (yay!), chicken tenders and corndogs. Other shareable items include the inventive bao bun sliders and street style tacos. 
Tip: We are obsessed with the grilled chicken Caesar salad. It’s SO SO good. Plenty of parmesan, croutons, and flavorful grilled chicken. Even the kids would have second and third helpings!
Outdoor Winter Activities
Lake Lawn Resort offers activities galore! In fact, we didn’t have time to do it all on our weekend visit. While walking along the lake path, we spotted an obstacle course and couldn’t pass it up. Definitely a fun way to let out energy!
We continued to Lakefront Landing, Lake Lawn’s activity headquarters, to borrow equipment for all the winter activities offered: ice skating, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, and sledding. Let me tell you, we all had a BLAST! The kids had fun skating circles around us adults on the frozen lake! (Rest assured they check the ice every morning to make sure it’s safe.) And for the first time my crew and I tried cross country skiing. It was so much fun! So much that we also did it again the next day. As a fan of snowshoeing, I couldn’t wait to try it again. And you’ll be glad to know these rentals are all free to resort guests!

Perfect for Date Night
Taking advantage of the beautiful evening, my husband and I took a stroll on the lakeside walking path. Don’t miss the photo op with the large Lake Lawn Adirondack chair! As we made our way to dinner, we spotted the beautiful sun setting just beyond the buildings. Perfect way to start our date!
All date nights should include drinks and dinner so we headed to the resort’s upscale dining restaurant, The Frontier Restaurant. I was happy to learn that the restaurant works closely with local Wisconsin Farmers and artisans providing fresh, local ingredients. While waiting for our food, we marveled at the views of Delavan Lake. The full moon lighting up the snow-covered frozen lake added to the cozy and romantic ambiance.
I’ve learned that all meals at Lake Lawn should start with their Caesar Salad – the house-made dressing is phenomenal (So much I wish we could bottle it up and take it home!) accompanied with slivers of Pecorino cheese. Since date night happened to fall on a Saturday, my husband was all for Frontier Restaurant’s all-you-can-eat Prime Rib Special. Let’s just say he was one happy camper! I was perfectly content with my crab cakes and scallops. Now listen up, all meals at The Frontier Restaurant SHOULD end with the award-winning Mud Pie. Imagine an ice cream pie with whipped vanilla Haagen-Dazs, Baileys and Kahlua on top of an Oreo crust. Ah-mazing!
Although we would have liked to enjoy other activities afterwards (like curling), we admitted that we were too exhausted and too full to do anything else. But we did wake up early at 7 a.m. to enjoy the hot tub together. We had it all to ourselves!
ENJOY SOME “ME” TIME
If you’re looking to get pampered, Calladora Spa is the perfect place to let your worries aside and relax. I was treated to a much needed deep tissue massage. My massage therapist Katherine worked wonders and found knots that my body never knew they had. Safety precautions were followed by my massage therapist. Other things offered at Calladora Spa: manicures, facials, salon, waxing services, and more.
