A visit to Lake Geneva is not complete without trying all the food! On our latest summer escape to this resort town, we dined at our favs and also tried something new. One thing’s for sure – you’ll never go hungry in Lake Geneva.
Popeye’s
If you’re looking for good food with pretty large portions, look no further than Popeye’s. They are known for their rotisserie chicken. In fact, they roast it outside in its own little building. Sporting a nautical theme, the restaurant offers plenty of distractions (like a floating mermaid) to keep the kids occupied. Great for a game of I Spy!
Before looking at the food menu, do yourself a favor and get your drink on! As a lover of fruity drinks, the sangria was just up my alley. My husband said the Bloody Mary was pretty good as well.
We started with the crab rangoon dip (awesome!) and, of course, you can’t go to Wisconsin without eating cheese curds. Their lobster bisque is fantastic! Warning: the portion sizes are pretty big so you may get full.
If you thought the appetizers were filling, wait till you see the actual entrees. We ordered a burger, steak, rotisserie chicken (of course), and a gyros sandwich. So glad to have my husband to finish all our leftovers.
As you know, we always save room for dessert. The cheesecake was calling our name. And yes, it’s perfect for sharing.
Tip: They have their own parking lot, but it does fill up!
Oakfire
Before the visit, we had never heard of Oakfire, but we’re so glad to have found it! With its prime location located across the lake, Oakfire had just undergone renovation and the changes look modern and fresh. Plus, the view from the top floor overlooking the lake was fantastic.
Besides the view, the food was pretty good. Since Oakfire was known for Neapolitan style pizza, we, of course, had to try that. And when I mentioned to the kids that they offered Mickey Mouse pizzas, they were totally game for it. My oldest devoured the pizza and claimed that they had the best crust ever. I have to agree! My Margherita pizza with Bufala Mozzarella was delicious.
Avant Bicycle & Cafe
No surprise that I love exploring and finding new coffee shops. After a quick search, I saw that Avant Bicycle & Cafe was located downtown. Such a cool gathering spot for bicyclists and coffee lovers. Their coconut latte was definitely yummy!
Simple Cafe
What can I say? It’s busy, you may wait, but it’s totally worth it. (If there is a wait, head next door to their bakery to tide you over.) Everything was so, so good. From the buttermilk pancakes to the Korean Rice Bowl, we loved everything that touched our mouths.
I adore Croque Monsieurs, so knew I had to get their Croque Madame. I absolutely devoured my it! We’ll definitely be returning!
Sprecher’s Restaurant & Pub
I chatted about food before on our last trip including Sprecher’s. Of course, we couldn’t resist stopping here again since it was connected to our hotel, The Cove. This time around we ordered a beer flight (my favs!), the yummy pretzels, and the fish fry again. Plus, kids soda drinks are free!
Kilwins
Located just one block from the lake, Kilwins is our go-to ice cream spot. We’ve been going here for ages. (I couldn’t resist this photo of my oldest 7 years ago. So, so cute!) Not only do they have ice cream, but they also have a wide variety of chocolates.
Did I miss your favorite place to eat in Lake Geneva? Let me know, and we’ll check it out the next time we’re in the area.
I’m so hungry! This part of Wisconsin is definitely on my list.
