When hunger strikes, you’ll find plenty of places to eat. The hard part is choosing where you want to go! Well, let me make it a little bit easier for you. Here are a few places to eat in Hamilton County, Indiana.

*With the pandemic, we tried to stick to dining outdoors or getting takeout.

Places to Eat in Hamilton County

Urban Vines Winery & Brewery

If we lived here, we would no doubt be regulars at Urban Vines Winery & Brewery. What’s not to love about a family-friendly brewery AND winery? They even have a playground for the kids! While we prefer not dining at restaurants, after seeing Urban Vines’ outdoor dining area we felt totally comfortable here. Besides, who can resist eating and drinking next to a vineyard?

The ambiance is cool, but the food and drinks are wonderful too. Pizzas are tasty (just be patient as they may take 25-40 minutes).  Knowing that, I ordered a couple orders of pretzel rolls to prevent hangry kids (and mom). We all inhaled it.

During our visit, the bees were super aggressive and stung my son. The staff was super helpful and accommodating, even rushing to get him an ice pack and even Benadryl. That’s what I call customer service! Hands down, this was our favorite place to eat and drink. Beer and wine for mom and dad, pizza for the family, a great outdoor area. What more could you want?

Recommended: Black Magic wine, Hazy Hopsicle beer, Margaritaville and Mayor pizza.

Tip: Outside food is welcome except fast food, pizza, or food delivery.

Big Hoffa’s BBQ

If you’re in the mood for BBQ, try Big Hoffa’s BBQ in Westfield. While we were waiting to pickup our food, the kids enjoyed taking pictures with the fun mural on the entire wall. They love their pirates! Big portions, delicious food, another thumbs up!

Recommended: Anything with brisket!

Tip: Enjoy your food at the nearby park Freedom Trail Park. With picnic tables, an awesome playground, separate rock climbing boulder, this was our favorite Google discovery!

Mimi Blue

Known for their meatballs, Mimi Blue has almost every combination you can think of. Choose from a variety of meats like fried chicken, turkey, or beef and top it off with any of their sauces. Go for the classic marinara, or be adventurous and try their honey sriracha. Choose to have your meatballs by itself or in a slider. The options are endless! if you need help deciding, the helpful staff will guide you in making a decision or you can choose one of their suggested plates.

Recommended: Their suggested plate with fried chicken, sriracha aioli, and mac and queso, classic meatballs, fried chicken meatball, chili.

The Roost

For comfort food you can’t go wrong with The Roost. Their biscuits and gravy and chicken and waffles were both excellent and hit the spot! Ordering and picking up was as easy and efficient.

Chiba

If you crave sushi all the time like we do, try Chiba in Westfield. They have an amazing outdoor space among maple trees and twinkling lights. Come on a day when there’s music and you won’t be disappointed. Just know reservations are not accepted.  Word of caution: This is a hopping spot on a Friday evening so expect a wait for a table and food (45 minutes to get in and an hour for sushi.) Thankfully, they had bags (cornhole) out front to entertain them for a good chunk of the wait. If I could do it all over again, I would come earlier (they have a happy hour with amazing specials!) or during lunchtime. Bring things to keep the kids entertained.

Recommended: Tuna rolls are simple yet legit. The Aloha roll made with coconut shrimp, mango, and pineapple  was wonderful and paired with Kona beer, reminded me of Hawaii!

Tip: Chiba is located on Westfield’s restaurant row which has other options like Rail or ice cream at Cone + Crumb.

Cake Bake Shop

Even on a dreary day, the Cake Bake Shop manages to bring a sparkle to any mood. It’s like stepping into a dream (a sweet lover’s dream!). Ice cream, beautiful cakes, candy, baked goods, and more.  To make it even more extra, they have glitter on all your goodies. Yes, glitter. Their garbage cans are even pink.

Recommended: Magic bars, macarons, basically anything!
