With a daughter obsessed with strawberries, we always make sure to squeeze in time to go strawberry picking once the season hits. This year we made our way to Cody’s Farm and Orchard in Marengo. What a great day out with the family!

Our experience at Cody’s Farm & Orchard:
Strawberry Picking
After parking on the grassy fields we proceeded towards the entrance. We brought our own wagon but it was nice to know we could borrow these cool Radio Flyer wagons if we needed.
We didn’t need to check in or anything, so we grabbed a few strawberry holders and were on our merry way across the street to the strawberry fields. Thankfully, it wasn’t too long of a walk.
When we did reach the fields, the kids were ready to pick, pick, pick. Even though we visited about halfway through the season, we still found plenty to pick from. My daughter absolutely loves her strawberries so she was particularly excited to get all the strawberries she could get her little hands on. Can you tell?
As a matter of fact, everyone had a great time digging in there and finding the reddest berries they could find…as well as the most unique one!

After our baskets were full of strawberries, we saw that we could also pick snap peas. We could not resist — it was delicious!
I think we did pretty good at the end of the day.
The Food

After strawberry picking, the kids were ready to let some of their energy out (especially after the sugar treats they consumed!). Some of the activities on site includes a sandbox, tractor to climb, tractor track, and rolling things. They all had a fun time — and it was free!
Tips to enjoy Cody’s Farm:
- After you pass the main building at Cody’s Farm, drive past and you’ll find parking in the grassy area. They also have a few spots located by the main building.
- If you’re buying a lot, they have wagons for you to transport the strawberries.
- They have straw in between the rows so you’ll have less chance to get muddy.
Bottom Line:
If you are looking to go strawberry picking, a day out at Cody’s Farm and Orchard is perfect for the family.
