When I heard they had free Easter Egg hunts at Soldier Field, we were all over it. My husband’s a die-hard fan and the fact that we could actually go ON the field was all he needed to know before agreeing to go to this event. It was a tad bit chilly for our 11-month-old (and me) so we bundled him up.
The Nitty Gritty:
FREE! FREE! FREE! Just paid the cost of parking for only $10.
The fun:
We arrived about an hour after the event started and there was still a line to enter the stadium. Sections of the stadium were divided by age range, and we waited our turn to get on the field. The event could have been organized better as we weren’t even sure if we were in the right line. There are no eggs, just candy dumped on the field. Once they set us free – everyone (and I mean parents included) ran to get candy. It seemed sort of chaotic.
Son’s fav moment: Grabbing (or trying to grab) candy
Parent’s fav moment: Do I even need to tell you? Getting to walk/run on Soldier Field.
Bottom Line: Would come here again but we would make sure to come earlier and in warmer weather.
Tip: If you bring a stroller, you need to park it since you can’t bring it on the field. There were TONS of strollers and the paranoid mom in me would not trust my stroller and belongings just out in the open. If you come early enough, they even give you a commemorative wooden egg.
