Just off I-90, Palmer Park in Janesville, Wisconsin makes for a great road trip stop or a fun addition to a family fun vacation.

I just love playgrounds that can serve as a road trip stop or even include it as part of our vacation. Camden Playground at Palmer Park in Janesville is a wonderful example of both.  As Janesville’s second largest park at 164 acres,  Palmer Park has a lot to offer including a wading pool, picnic areas, ball courts, and more. Although we didn’t get to explore the park fully, we did spend quite some time playing at Camden Playground.

Cool fact: At the time it was built in 1993, it was the world’s largest most accessible playground.

Getting started at Palmer Park

Palmer Park is just outside downtown but also conveniently located off Exit 175 from I-90. Parking was easy to find and plentiful.

Castle themed

One of the main highlights of Palmer Park is the ADA-accessible Camden Playground also known as the castle park.

Rotating seesaw

I am not sure what this is called but this was definitely the highlight of the playground since we’ve never seen anything like it. It’s a two person see-saw and it moves left or right. So neat!

Rock Climbing Wall

You know I love murals and I fell in love with this tropical-themed mural that was also a climbing wall. Love the combo!

Merry Go Round

The kids had a blast on this wheelchair accessible merry-go-round!

Other things to do at Palmer Park

  • Tire swing
  • Mini zipline and longer zipline that we missed
  • Separate area for younger kids with mommy and me swings, 4-person seesaw, roller slides
  • Wheelchair accessible swing
  • Wading pool for a small fee
  • Get more info about Janesville at the Visitor Center.
  • Bathrooms are available

How long to stay here?

We easily spent over an hour here but we were running around Janesville earlier in the day so we were a bit tired already. If you truly want to make a day trip, head to the wading pool, downtown Janesville with awesome murals, Rotary Botanical Gardens just a few minutes away, or play foot golf at Blackhawk Golf Course. So much to do in Janesville!
