With dinosaur lovers in the family, and a future paleontologist at hand I had Paleofest on my calendar for awhile. Wow! What a fun and great event for those that are intrigued by dinosaurs.
Highlights:
- Stations. I don’t know about you, but my kids love scavenger hunts. The kids were each given a passport, and it was their duty to find specific stations throughout and get their passport stamped. There were 8 different stations located throughout the museum. Here were some of their favorite stations:
They enjoyed throwing bean bags into the mouths of dinosaurs at the Feeding Dinosaurs station.
Their creative juices were flowing while making dinosaur puppets.
Who’s That Dino? – a fun matching game to figure out the name of the dinosaur figure
After getting stamps from station to station, winners could choose a dinosaur prize from the “dino dig.” FUN!
- Family workshops. In addition to all the stations, there was an option to add a Family Workshop pass for $25 (as members). These workshops differ by day, but on the day we went the kids were able to participate in the “What’s for lunch, Miss T-Rex?” workshop. They learned all sorts of fun facts, saw a real tooth from Jane, the juvenile T-rex. The best part though was, of course, getting a chance to “dig” for a fossil.
Then getting to paint it any way they wanted.
What a neat souvenir!
Bottom Line:
If you have dinosaur fans, you must attend Paleofest. It’s very organized, educational, and tons of F-U-N!
