Our Experience at the Wizards and Wands Suite at the Loews Chicago

As we headed up to our 9th floor suite, we couldn’t have been more excited! The luxurious Lake View Suite on the 9th floor has been transformed into the Wizards and Wands Suite. As we were walking into the suite, we spotted Hedwig and cart going into Platform 9 2/6. (Changed to reflect the Room #926.)

As we stepped into the suite, we were transported to the whimsical world of Harry Potter. We were greeted with a knight in the corner and a full display of mandrakes and potions to make any spellbound wizard happy. On the other side of the living area, the house flags graced the walls. We could even cozy up in a Harry Potter blanket and pillow.

The Little Details

Not only is the suite all decked out, but we were pleased to find Harry Potter things to do. One of our favorites was playing Clue, a Harry Potter edition. We were obsessed with playing and I’m pretty sure a Harry Potter game is in our future. Another adorable addition was this cute little play tent accompanied with a snake, wand, and cauldron. We could even be our own wizard with cape, scarf, wizard’s hat, and broom.

The room came with a PS5 system and a Harry Potter game to go with it. The kids had a fun time playing the games! Once we finished gaming, we took advantage of another perk that came with the room – a complimentary in-demand movie. I do have to say my favorite part about the room were all the little details.  We loved it all!

Elixirs + Potions + More

The Wizards and Wands Suite Package also included two drinks from the Elixers and Potions drink menu at the hotel restaurant, ETA Restaurant and Bar. We absolutely loved our drinks! But you’d be doing yourself a disservice if you did not try their food and dessert. Everything we had from the bone marrow to the Korean Bulgogi and S’mores dessert was fabulous.

After a fun night in, we were happy to settle in our king size bed with bedding from Pottery Barn Teen’s Harry Potter Collection. Super cute and cozy.

Amazing Views

Since it was a corner room, we had floor-to-ceiling views of BOTH the lake and the river. As an added bonus since it was St. Patrick’s Day weekend, we were lucky to still find the river dyed green.

Waking up with a sunrise view of the lake was an added treat.

Other Things to Do at the Loews Chicago

In all honesty, we could have stayed in our room the entire stay. But we did explore all the other amenities at the hotel.

POOL

I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again. It’s not vacation until we swim in a pool. Luckily, the Loews Chicago has a 20-meter heated lap pool on the third floor. The kids had a fun time splashing around.

Note: Pool toys can be requested from the front desk.

FITNESS CENTER

The Loews Chicago Hotel boasts a wonderful gym with plenty of cardio equipment (treadmill, elliptical, stair machine, and even Peloton bikes.) There’s also a large selection of free weights and weight-assisted lifting equipment, in an open and bright space.

Located on the third floor.

Just a Text Away

One thing I loved about the Loews Chicago Hotel was the ability to text them whenever we needed anything. I utilized their help in confirming my dinner reservation at ETA (highly recommend!) and requesting a late checkout. When I wanted to see what games they had they let us know and even held it for us.

Extra Kids Amenities

They have even more amenities for kids to make their experience even better.  Upon arrival, kids received a bag full of goodies. There are also gaming consoles (like a PS4 and Nintendo Switch), board and card games, and according to their website, iPads with pre-loaded games and movies.

Coffee

My favorite part of waking up is grabbing a coffee to go. I LOVE that they have For Five Roasters in the lobby with light bites, coffee, and hot chocolate.

FUN ACTIVITIES JUST STEPS AWAY From LOEWS Chicago

One of the best reasons to stay at Loews Chicago is all the fun that are just steps away. Since we were in a Harry Potter- themed suite it only made sense to actually visit the Harry Potter: Magic At Play exhibit at Water Tower Place. (Stay tuned for a full review.) Another fun activity included a day at Museum of Ice Cream with my daughter. Millennium Park and Maggie Daley Play Garden is always a fun time! Since we were so close to the Riverwalk, we made sure to stop by and see the green river.
