Southwest Michigan is one of my favorite places ever. On our last Michigan road trip, we discovered the lovely town of Saugatuck. Our home away from home for a couple nights was Hop & Vine Inn, a lovely family-friendly B&B. Located just 5 miles south of Saugatuck in Fennville, Hop & Vine Inn offers the convenience of being close but also away from it all.

Disclosure: Our family was provided a complimentary stay at Hop & Vine Inn.  I was not required to express a particular point of view, and all opinions are my own.

Hop and Vine Inn Room Highlights:

Unique rooms

Every room at the B&B is uniquely decorated and given its own name. Our room was called Upper Peninsula, which was perfect because we had literally just come back from there! It was nice having our own private entrance on the second floor, and, after noticing all the big (and little) details, we could see how much thought the owners put into each room.

Our room had everything we needed – a full bathroom (with step stools for the kids), microwave, mini fridge, and coffee. We absolutely adored our two bedrooms – a  master bedroom with a queen bed and another room which held two beds (a twin and a queen.) It was perfect for my three kids!

And surprise! The extra large closet had an adorable reading nook. There were even board games!

Lots of choices

Whether you’re a family or a couple, Hop and Vine Inn B&B has something for you. Full kitchen and living room? Check. A jacuzzi? Check. There are 17 units available that can hold 60 people. Heck, you can even rent the whole inn. How fun would that be for a family reunion?

Hop and Vine Inn Highlights:

Catch the sunrise

As if you didn’t know, catching sunrises are one of my favorite parts of the day. At Hop and Vine Inn, they have a great spot for watching sunrises. It was so calm and peaceful.

A delicious breakfast to start the day

Your day must start with a home cooked breakfast from the hosts Amber and Dan. During our stay, we tried cheesy eggs, crispy potatoes, mini waffles topped with whipped cream, and more.  Everything was all so good! (And yes, we asked for seconds!) Enjoy your food in the dining room, sun porch, or outside on the picnic tables. In order to stay safe, they served us the food with masks and gloves on.

Adorable property

Located in the country complete with a barn and field, Hop and Vine Inn is removed from the everyday hustle and bustle. Everything is all so charming! And you gotta love the little details.

Fantastic location

Conveniently located off 196, we were never too far away from all the fun in Saugatuck and Douglas. Beaches, wine/beer/cider tasting, shopping, dining, and more were just minutes away. Read all about the fun in the area here.

Donut boat ride, anyone?

Splash away

They have an indoor heated pool that stays open year round. During Covid they’ve ensured safety precautions by having a sign up sheet for your family’s own pool time, so you basically have the pool to yourself!

Activities galore!

Their backyard is a blast! Families can stay busy with a game of sand volleyball (or just sand time) or other lawn games. The kids had a fun time with the playground equipment. In the common areas, they have TONS of board games to keep you busy.

Relax

In the mood to relax? There are hammocks and swings located throughout the property.

a great place to curl up with a good book

S’mores times!

The fire pit is calling your name and awaiting for s’mores to be made. And you’ll be happy to know that all the supplies are provided – just grab some firewood down the road at the Shell station.

Amazing hosts

Amber and Dan really do take care of you. Ask them about anything and they’ll gladly give you recommendations. And even amidst a pandemic, they really do try to make you feel safe. They always had their masks on and even gloves when serving food. The rooms were extremely clean, sign up sheets to use the pool for one family at a time.

TIp: Check  out some of their partner coupons (like a $5 growler fill from Saugatuck Brewery) so you can save a $$.

Bottom Line:

What an amazing place for the family! With adorable rooms, plenty of things to do for families, a great location, and wonderful hosts, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Hop &Vine Inn to anybody.
