GETTING STARTED AT Feed My Starving Children
I registered online for my entire family to volunteer. We had no problems finding the warehouse with our GPS. Once we arrived, we donned our hairnet, took off our jewelry, and checked in electronically. Once we were done we sat on the benches until orientation. The process was very easy and straightforward.
Listen, learn, and wash up
There’s a quick orientation and video with an overview of what to do. The orientation leader was so energetic and pumped everyone up! Love it!
Get packing!
The kids were ready to go! After a few minutes, we got in the groove of things and scooped away. I loved that kids could get involved. Everyone had a job whether it was scooping vitamins, soy, or rice, but we all worked as a team together. While we were packing, they blasted the music which added to fun ambiance overall. We worked for an hour and 45 minutes and it literally felt like 30 minutes. Even the kids said the time flew! After our time was up, we were given cleaning instructions and sat back at the orientation room to find out how many boxes we packed. We were all very happy to have helped that many kids.
Go shopping
As we exited, we passed through the gift shop. Everything was so cute and adorable! Most of the items were handcrafted from people around the world. These would make a wonderful present! The purchases also benefit FMSC. A win-win in my book! You can also pay a donation to help feed a child for a year.
Stay tuned for an email
As mentioned in the orientation, I received a followup email letting us know where our food went. So cool!
FINAL THOUGHTS OF Feed My Starving Children
If you can do so, I would definitely sign up to help. I love that families with children can help out. This was such an amazing experience that we plan on doing every year (possibly even more!)
TIPS
