I used to love running before kids. Like I couldn’t wait to sign up for races and get that shiny new medal. But alas motherhood happened and I have to admit I have been slacking. I was determined to change it up this year by running more.
Enter Color in Motion 5K Chicago.

Why you’ll want to join:
- For a good cause. CIM5K has teamed up with Project: VISION is a nonprofit youth center that serves students in grades 6-12 primarily from low-income, first generation immigrant families with free after-school programs that encourage the pursuit of knowledge, social awareness, and development of skills and civic responsibilities necessary to be future leaders. PV has served over 550 youth through programs such as homework tutoring, college and career readiness workshops, service learning, and leadership activities.
- Kids are welcome! In fact, you can even bring strollers.
- You can walk..or hop or skip your way to the finish line! No pressure for you.
- It’s fun, fun, fun. If you want to be competitive, this is not the race for you. There are no timed chips, so bring your stopwatch if you want to know your time.
- Costumes are welcome.
How it works:
Wear your whitest white. As you sprint, jog, waddle, or leisurely stroll along the course you will be bombarded with bright colors that transform a group of ordinary runners into a moving rainbow! Â
The color that you will be showered with is completely safe (a mixture of cornstarch and dye that’s also biodegradable) and washes off easily. Â
Tips:
- Bring lots and lots of towels. Towels are great to dust you off and cover the seats in your car.
- Bring plastic bags are the perfect container for colorful shoes that might need a little more dusting off at home.
- Wet wipes are great for cleaning off hands, faces, and mobile screens!

I’m super excited for this run! I’ve done a color run before but not yet in my hometown (chicago). I think the crowd will be the best part-seeing everyone having a great time!

It´s outrageous that less than 5 days for the run to happen (in Chicago) the venue is changed (to Grayslake) and Color in Motion does not give us the option for a refund! The venue changed considerably creating an unexpected burdensome to participants and still the company does not offer us the option of refund? That´s a disrespect with consumers and I couldn´t be more dissatisfied with this brand that so call itself a fun company for fun runs. What a disappointement!
