During our latest stay at The Abbey to celebrate our 10th anniversary (with kids!), dinner at 240° West was an easy choice: delicious locally sourced food, located right by the marina, and super convenient. We’ve dined at 240° West and I just love the ambiance. It’s warm and intimate, plus gazing at the striking A-frame in the room makes all the difference. It was actually our first dinner alone so we could really take in the relaxing views of the marina. We also really like the options on the menu with its contemporary, Midwestern vibe.
Our Experience at 240° West:
As I mentioned we were celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary, so we, of course, had to start with wine. One of their specials was a flight of Wisconsin wines. In the end, we chose a bottle of Fisher King port wine.

We were given a variety of rolls to start out with. I cannot even stop raving about their raisin nut roll. I was even tempted to request a loaf of it. Our fantastic server did understood my obsession with the bread so she packed a few for us to bring to the kids at the end of dinner. So sweet, right? These rolls ended up being our lifesaver for our hangry kids the next morning.
After resisting the urge to eat all the bread, our starters came out. My husband loves trying different meats and cheeses so we opted for the Artisan Cheese and Cured Meats. From the homemade light, crispy flatbread to the black truffle, everything meshed really well.
My corn and crab bisque was on point, while I just couldn’t get over how delicious my blood orange and grape salad was. The crispy, buttery, croutons (again made in-house) made all the difference and was a perfect compliment to the not overly sweet dressing. I highly recommend both! My husband felt the same about his Caesar salad with shrimp.
I may have been full and probably should have stopped but when the entrees came out I couldn’t resist taking a bite out of these gigantic shrimp! The U6 shrimp included cous cous and chorizo but surprisingly the highlight was the crispy lemon. The waitress had raved about the lemon. (It’s just lemon, right?) But wow, was she right. It’s totally different and wished I could have a bag of these to snack on. And paired with the shrimp? A perfect combo.
My husband ordered the filet mignon. He didn’t have high hopes because all restaurants seem to make it too salty and can never seem to get rare done correctly. He was totally proven wrong at 240° West. He claimed it was the best filet mignon he’s had, and he’s a tough critic.
By this time, we were totally stuffed but of course, saved a little room for dessert. The manager raved about the flourless chocolate cake and we knew we had to try it. It was awesome — not too sweet or rich. With its nutella whipped cream and fresh berries, it was just perfect.
I can’t rave enough about our amazingly romantic dinner at 240 West. If you’re ever in the Lake Geneva area, I highly recommend stopping by. And please, please grab me some of that sweet raisin nut roll!
