Looking for an an easy getaway with the family? Look no further than the award winning AAA Four-Diamond resort Grand Geneva Resort and Spa in Lake Geneva. On our recent visit to Lake Geneva, my family and I had so much fun exploring Lake Geneva, Wisconsin to its fullest. (Read about it here.) One of the highlights of our trip though was staying at at Grand Geneva Resort. Read all about our stay.

Disclosure: Our family was provided a complimentary stay at Grand Geneva Resort. I was not required to express a particular point of view, and all opinions are my own.

Getting Started at Grand Geneva

We followed the signs to the registration building. Parking is easy; you can valet or park yourself. If you have a lot of luggage, I’d maybe have the bellman help you since their our mini stairs between floors and each building.

Room HIGHLIGHTS:

Our home away from home was a Lakeview King and adjoining Lakeview Queen bedroom on the 3rd floor in Building 3. The resort just completed room renovations and I have to say the rooms looked great! Loved the neutral colors and natural woods. Plus, my technology-loving family really appreciated having plenty of plugs and lighting. Everything was just so cozy!

RESORT HIGHLIGHTS

Geneva Club

For a worthwhile splurge, I highly recommend upgrading to Geneva Club access. During specific times the Geneva Club offers breakfast, midday snacks and evening Happy Hour, and dessert. The Happy Hour allowed my husband and I to grab a few drinks (moscato and High Noon seltzer for me; Guinness and a Spotted Cow for the hubs) before dinner. The kids were excited to try their appetizer options like stuffed artichoke, charcuterie in a cup, pierogies, and flat bread. If you’re looking to unwind, they have a roaring fireplace with comfortable leather chairs. The lounge area was relaxing with plenty of space.

After dinner, we stopped by for petit fours and relaxed by the fire with hot chocolate and coffee by the fire while the kids enjoyed playing a game of chess. Since access is good until noon the next day, we were able to dine here for breakfast. Again, amazing food! For $85 a night, I though we more than received the value of the Club access.

Get your work out on

Located in the same building with the spa, the fitness center offered plenty of cardio equipment and strength conditioning equipment. Other fitness/spa amenities include a full-size indoor basketball, tennis and volleyball courts, junior Olympic-size lap pool, and daily group fitness classes.

Note: Kids aren’t allowed on the equipment but they are able to use the basketball court. Or pay a daily fee to use the huge 35-foot rock climbing wall.

Enjoy the Outdoors

Want to hang outside? There is a White River Walking Trail to get your steps in. Kids will adore the playground as well.

Resort Restaurants

Plenty of restaurants to choose from including the upscale Geneva Chop House (steak and seafood);  The Grand Café (contemporary American);  Ristoranté Brissago (Italian); Grand Central (coffee, sweet treats, and The Chocolate Shoppe ice cream). A few years ago, we dined at Ristoranté Brissago and enjoyed their authentic house-made pastas, cheeses, prosciutto, olive oils and desserts. Everything we tried (risotto, salad) was fantastic, but the real highlight though was the Rigatoni al Bolognese – Boar and Oxtail Ragu, Spicy Pork Sausage, and Shaved Pecorino. Very, very tasty and flavorful! This time around we dined at The Grand Café located on the main lobby level. My boys and husband devoured their prime rib and I really enjoyed my shrimp po boy.

  • Visiting during the winter months? Go skiing or snowboarding!
  • Hop on! While we didn’t get a chance to use it, I loved that they had a trolley that had different stops all over the grounds of the resort.
  • Spa. To truly get away, schedule time to visit the WELL Spa + Salon.
