One of our favorite holiday movies, A Christmas Story, has been brought to life at the Marriott Theatre.  When I heard that A Christmas Story, The Musical had come to Chicagoland, I knew that we needed to see it. We’re so glad we did – we loved it!

Looking for a show tailored to kids? You’ll love The Wizard of Oz at Marriott Theatre! I’m so happy to see it’s come around again.

Disclosure: Our family was provided complimentary tickets I was not required to express a particular point of view, and all opinions are my own. .Some links may contain affiliate links.

The Story

If you’re familiar with the classic, A Christmas Story takes place in the 1940s in Northwest Indiana on Cleveland Street. (Fun fact: A Christmas Story was actually filmed in Cleveland, Ohio. Oh, the tidbits we learned during our Christmas Story house tour in Cleveland. So cool!) Ralphie Parker wishes for the ultimate Christmas gift – A Red Ryder BB Gun. He tries his best to drop hints with his parents (and Santa) for his dream gift. But as he counts down to Christmas, there are distractions at every corner including a leg lamb, pink bunny pajamas, a tongue and a flagpole.

THOUGHTS OF A Christmas Story The Musical AT MARRIOTT THEATRE

NOt a BAD SEAT

The Marriott Theatre is such an intimate theater with seats surrounding the stage on all four sides. There’s not a bad seat in house! I loved how creative they were with the set!

ENTERTAINING

From the very start my three kids, ages 12, 10, and 8 were really into. If you are a fan of the classic movie like us, we were looking forward to see how they would recreate the famous scenes from the movie. They did a fabulous job!

Not only did they recreate the famous scenes flawlessly, but they even added extra scenes that added to the entire experience. I’m talking about dancing leg lamps, tap dancing, and more!

SPLENDID PERFORMANCE

The cast did an amazing job! Our favorites include the narrator, Kevin McKilip, and Ralphie Parker played by Kavon Newman.

FINAL THOUGHTS

What a fun way to kick off the holiday season. If you are a fan of A Christmas Story, you’ll love A Christmas Story, The Musical.
