As I mentioned before, paying attention to our kids’ health is now more important than ever. One thing you’ve probably never thought about twice is their gut health. Did you know that the gut (GI system) is home to 70% of the body’s total number of immune cells? That’s why it’s more important than ever to keep your kids’ (and your) gut healthy.

Encourage a healthy diet

Foods to try: Look for whole foods like fresh fruits and veggies which provide a healthy balance of good to bad bacteria. Apples are an example of a great food that also appears to reduce bad bacteria. Lean sources of protein like organic poultry or cold water fish like salmon is also recommended. Eat foods high in fiber which prevent constipation and boosts beneficial bacteria. Try probiotics found naturally in food like sauerkraut, pickles, olives and soft cheeses (gouda), buttermilk, kefir, kimchi, miso, tempeh. My kids personally love eating yogurt. Just make sure is says “live or active cultures.”

Foods to avoid: Sugar and processed carbohydrates, highly processed foods, foods high in saturated fats or a high animal protein diet. Try to stay away from these as they feed bad bacteria.

Take a daily probiotic like Kyo-Dophilus Kids Probiotic

First off, what is a probiotic? According to probiotics.com, “probiotics refer to the specific live strains of “good” bacteria that help the body maintain wellness.” These good bacteria are essential for keeping the gut healthy. Other benefits of probiotics include nutrient absorption, women’s health, immune and brain health, the heart, and skin health. While probiotics can be found naturally in food, sometimes we just don’t get enough and taking a probiotic supplement is needed.

Why Kyo-Dophilus Kids Probiotic?

After trying Kyo-Dophilus Kids Probiotic, I can say my kids were huge fans. For one, the tablets were small and really easy to chew and swallow. If you have kiddos younger than 2 the small tablets can be crushed into food if needed. As you know with kids, taste is a huge factor and I’m happy to report that they loved the vanilla flavor. . In fact, they kept asking for more!

Not only do my kids give Kyo-Dophilus Probiotics two thumbs up, but they also won me over with their health benefits These probiotics contains The Friendly Trio bacteria which specifically support the GI function and immune health, normalize bowel movements, as well as regulate healthy gut flora.

Other pluses? These are shelf stable and don’t require refrigeration.  Kyo-Dophilus Probiotics is developed by Wakunaga of America, a trusted name brand for nearly 30 years.

Tip: It is best to take with any meal of the day, but try to take it the same time everyday. You should use the probiotic for a minimum of 3 weeks everyday when possible.
